 FAQs

  • A good candidate is someone who seeks an independent and creative outlet to express, explore, and process their emotions, thoughts, or experiences. This therapeutic approach in a private setting can be especially beneficial for individuals going through life transitions, changing jobs, marriage, moving, as well a those with stress, grief, anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship challenges, early stages of recovery, or those seeking personal growth. TheraPaint Studio is inclusive and doesn't require artistic skills; it focuses on the healing process rather than a final result. It can be suitable for many people, including children age 8 or above, adolescents, and adults, as well as those managing chronic illness or neurological or neurodivergent conditions.

  • Wear comfortable and casual clothing that you don't mind getting a bit messy, as the paint can splatter or smudge. You can arrive in these clothes or change into them once you arrive in your studio. You will be given a full jumpsuit with a hood that will cover your clothes and feet, along with goggles, gloves, and booties. For guests with long hair, please plan to pull it away from your face.

  • The Mind/Body Connection: The simple act of throwing paint at a clean wall provides a dynamic outlet and opportunity to process stressful or complicated thoughts and feelings without having to share them with anyone else. With each throw, you create a visual representation of releasing those feelings by seeing them on the wall in front of you in paint-splatter-form; allowing space to work through what is on the inside so it can come out. It also offers a safe outlet for pent-up energy or mental/emotional blocks and encourages relaxation and clarity as you focus on the activity at hand - helping you stay present and lessening anxiety about the past or future.

Endorphin Release: The physical activity triggers the release of endorphins, which are natural chemicals in the brain that act as mood enhancers and pain relievers. Endorphins create feelings of pleasure and euphoria, counteracting stress and promoting a sense of well-being.

Physical Outlet: This cathartic experience provides a physical activity as an outlet for the physiological changes that occur during the body's "fight or flight" response to stress. Engaging in this practice can help the release of built-up tension and energy.

  • No, a referral is not required. Individuals can seek throwing paint directly to explore creative and non-verbal ways of expressing and addressing their emotions, challenges, or personal growth. While referrals from medical professionals or treatment programs might be beneficial in certain cases, most people independently choose to enhance their well-being and engage in this healing artistic process. Feel free to consult with your therapist if you feel this may be an outlet that is right for you.

  • No, this does not replace traditional therapy. The two can complement each other, providing a more comprehensive approach to healing and self-expression.

  • In short, no. TheraPaint is a new concept that invites an individual into a pristine place and promotes the therapeutic release of emotions with the goal of walking away with nothing but levity. Many of these other concepts often involve a level of destruction or waste or offer you a canvas of your creation to take home with you. The goal of TheraPaint Studio is that you leave everything behind, including expectations or perfectionist tendencies. There's beauty in letting it all out, making a mess without concern of how it looks or how to clean it up, and moving forward through the rest of your day feeling lighter. We also focus on sustainability as a core element of the experience. No other wellness studio offers a way to take your emotional output and give it to the Earth with very little waste or destruction. While both splatter rooms and rage rooms provide unconventional experiences, both tend to be group activities in a chaotic space and are seen as ‘playful’ things to do. TheraPaint Studio’s more focused approach starts out in a perfectly clean and private room and invites you to cross the threshold of messing up the pristine space by hurling your complex feelings at a wall via paint and letting it all out without the audience or fanfare of these group-focused excursions.

Additionally, TheraPaint Studio offers an elevated, chic, and nourishing environment for you to feel safe and at home in. We want to be a place where you can productively deal with whatever life throws at you as well as a place where you can center and reset.
